The National Chief Imam has prayed for Allah’s protection against the deadly novel coronavirus which has so far recorded six cases.
Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu prayed that the existence of the virus does not get to the epidemic stage, as cases of infected persons have increased within two days.
The Chief Imam said this when he signed a book of condolence for the late Gbi Paramount Chief, Togbega Gabusu, in Hohoe in the Volta Region.
“This coronavirus that is now going across the world, we pray for Allah's protection for countries which have suffered casualties. For those heavily affected we should also remember them in our prayers," he said.
The Chief Imam who was led by the Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu, to commiserate with the Gbi traditional area, eulogised the late Togbega Gabusu.
He described the deceased as a man of peace and lauded his cooperation in resolving the Hohoe conflict that erupted between the Gbis and Muslims in 2012.
The Islamic Cleric advised Ghanaians to cherish the peace in the country and endeavour to maintain it.
He blessed Mr Amewu who is contesting the Hohoe parliamentary seat for the third time.
A Divisional Chief, Togbe Worde IV, commended the Chief Imam for sympathising with the Gbis and assured of peaceful coexistence with Muslims in the area.
“It is so heavy to be reminded of such incident but once we have forgiven, we have forgotten about it”, he said.
