A bridge connecting several communities in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region has been reconstructed after it collapsed under heavy rains.
The bridge served as the link between Princess Town, Abase, Tumantu, Animakrom, Adelazo, Silimowu, Asuboye, and Aketakyi areas.
The collapse had left around 6,000 residents isolated, disrupting key economic activities such as fishing, rubber and timber farming, and posing a significant national security threat.

The Human Security Department of the Ministry of National Security, in collaboration with the Ghana Highways Authority, undertook the swift reconstruction of a 22km Bailey bridge in Princess Town.

This project aimed to reconnect the communities and address the economic, health, social, and security challenges that arose due to the collapse of the bridge.

This effort not only revived economic activities in the region but also reduced the risk of unrest and external threats.

The project serves as a vital step in ensuring the stability and security of the affected communities.
