Thousands of registered members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) will later Tuesday morning finally get an opportunity to elect a parliamentary candidate in what is expected to be a keenly contested primary.
The poll was suspended last year following security concerns.
Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Ayidoho, says all is set for elections Tuesday.
“We believe that all things being equal it should come off and the Electoral Commission will declare the winner and then we move out of that and then think about things,” he said.
However, Joy News Correspondent, Haruna Wumpuni, says as at 6:30am there wee no signs that elections will take place in the Eastern Region constituency.
He said there were no preparations at the Akwatia Lorry Park polling station for instance.
Incumbent MP, Baba Jamal, will be facing stiff competition from businessman Basil Ahiable in the primary.
