Former Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Abayifaa Karbo has called on his party and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court irrespective of whichever way it goes. According to him, both leaders of the two political parties have openly declared their preparedness to accept the verdict of the court so the followers should also have the same thinking in order to help the nation move forward. He was joining calls by Civil Society groups for parties in the petition to sensitize their supporters before the verdict of the case is given. The petition hearing is gradually coming to an end after the Supreme Court judges directed the parties to file their addresses by July 31. The judges by law, are expected to give their verdict 15 days after the case ends. Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii-Sen, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo insisted the Petitioners of the case should be lauded for going to court because any other alternative would have been disastrous for the country. “I want to use your platform to tell the supporters and leaders of NPP and NDC to prepare to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court. We don’t care wherever it goes because the country must move forward now. The petitioners must be lauded for choosing the court because any other alternative would have been disastrous for the country. "When we were going to court, some people attacked us but at the end of it president Mahama and the EU lauded us so I think it was a good option,” he explained. Mr. Karbo urged the security agencies to be professional and desist from being used by any political party because parties will come and go but the institution will still be there. “Is the police loyal to the NDC or to the state? Why are some people telling them to be alert for what? The security agencies as well as the judges of the court are all loyal to the state so they should not allow themselves to be used because parties will come and go but the institution will still be there” he noted.
