The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has been declared the winner after Saturday's polls.
She claimed victory over the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament, Mavis Hawa Koomson, after hours of confusion at the collation centre.
Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor secured 50,886 votes, representing 52.7%, while her opponent, Hawa Koomson, garnered 45,638 votes, representing 47.3%.
With these results, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor has been declared the MP-elect for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, ending the NPP's hold on the seat since 2012.
This victory marks the end of Hawa Koomson’s tenure as MP, a position she had held for over a decade.
