Ghana Football Association Executive Committee Member Winfred Osei Palmer says the latest club rating which placed the Glo Premier League as the 3rd and 38th strongest league in Africa and the world respectively, will have a positive effect on the local game.
The International Statistical body on Tuesday released the first trends of this year’s periodic assessment of the relative strengths of the various national leagues in the world from January – July 2012.
The Ghana premier league has been ranked the third strongest league on the African continent behind the Tunisian Premier League in second place and the Nigerian Premier League in first place.
“It’s very gratifying to hear that our league is being ranked third in Africa. The commercial implications are quite huge and I think we must make use of this. If you have investment and equity state in any club, it means that business will boom for those of us into fooball”, said Osei Palmer.
This ranking is an improvement on an earlier ranking of 10th in Africa last year.
