An NDC Youth group has donated a cash amount and other personal items to Madam Elizabeth Asantewaa, a victim of a bomb explosion in 1964.
The donation coincided with the celebration of Nkrumah's birthday which was observed as a public holiday.
Madam Asantewaa was presenting a bouquet of flowers to Ghana’s first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in Kulungugu in the Upper East Region when the bomb went off.
She sustained injuries to her leg and other parts of the body as a result. Her left leg was eventually amputated.
Life has since become difficult for her.
A member of the NDC group which made the donation, Mr. Emmanuel Klu said they were touched by the plight of Madam Elizabeth Asantewaa and decided to assist her.
He said the donation will be a regular feature and encouraged the victim to remain resolute even in times of difficulties.
Madam Elizabeth Asantewaa, thanked the group for their donation but also appealed to government to come to her aid.
