Veteran media professional and public affairs analyst, Hilary Damissah, has been conferred with the prestigious Techlife Impactful Media Personality of the Year Award. The recognition was presented at the 2024 Women Entrepreneurs and Executives in Tech Summit (WEETS), organised by Techlife Media, and held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
The convener of WEETS, Ugochi Emmanuel, praised Damissah as a “journalism enigma,” whose distinguished contributions to media through leadership, innovation, mentorship, and stakeholder engagement have left an indelible mark on the industry. Particularly, Emmanuel cited her own career success as a direct result of Hilary’s guidance and mentorship during her time as a staff member at DigiVation Network and Tribe Media Company.
Currently the Chief Operating Officer and Editor at DigiVation Network and Editor of Cyber Africa News, Damissah’s multifaceted career spans over two decades, with a footprint in print, broadcast, and digital media. His media journey began in 1994 and includes notable roles such as founding editor of Cyber Africa News and production consultant for key national agencies like the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), NITDA, NIMC, and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
During the summit, Damissah also moderated a high-impact panel discussion on “AI Leadership: Navigating the Future of Women in Business,” featuring female executives from major tech firms. His role further underscored his commitment to championing innovation, inclusivity, and emerging technologies in media and business.
In his acceptance remarks, Damissah expressed deep gratitude to Techlife Media, calling the award “a call to greater service and mentorship.” He emphasised the importance of inspiring the younger generation of journalists and communicators.
From humble beginnings to becoming a respected figure in African media and public communication, Hilary Damissah continues to inspire through excellence, mentorship, and visionary leadership—a legacy now firmly cemented with this latest honour.
