A presidential aide at the castle, Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye has accused NPP chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey of running down the state bungalow allocated to him when the NPP was in government. Jake attempted to buy the bungalow during the tenure of the NPP administration but was forced to vacate it after Ga-Dangbe youth mounted pressure on him to hand over the bungalow. The bungalow was subsequently handed over to Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye as his official residence after the NDC assumed power. Nii Lantey disclosed on Citi FM Friday that he was shocked at the deteriorated state of the bungalow before he occupied it. This he said shows the way the NPP government left the country. “You know we have been complaining about the state of ministerial bungalows and you are aware Jake arrogated to himself one of those ministerial bungalows. I was given that bungalow and I was shocked at the level of deterioration of the bungalow. You wouldn’t believe somebody was living there.” “I want to ask Jake, is that the way they handled the country and left? Is that the sort of country they want to come back and run? That they will handle state property as if it was their own back yard they could do anything with?” he asked Jake. “ You will think that somebody intentionally peeled off the carpet, broke down the Water Closet (WC) and things before leaving that house but that was the house Jake was living in, that was the house he said he has bought. When we went there with the Works and Housing people, I couldn’t believe my eyes the level of deterioration and destruction in that house...,” Nii Lantey accused Jake. Jake in a reaction described Nii Lantey's accusations as untrue. “Nii Lantey you are a lair. You say you went to that bungalow and you were shocked at the state of the bungalow that you saw peeled off carpets.” He explained that, “If you could remember, there was a big story at the time that I moved into the bungalow where I turned around and I said I did not want carpets in the bungalow because in public buildings like that where people change from time to time, you should not put carpets because when you put carpets and a new man moves in, they insist they take the carpet out and bring a new carpet.” “I insisted on tiles, the whole of that bungalow is tiled. There was not one place where there was any carpet...if you turn around and say it was in a state of dust and everything, of cause it was because for over a year, nobody had been inside that bungalow.
