Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, says the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is yet to get back on calls for the Accra and Cape Coast Sports stadiums to be inspected.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is racing against time to select a venue for the Black Stars' next home game following CAF's decision to withdraw its conditional approval for the Baba Yara Stadium.
The decision led to the National Sports Authority (NSA) closing down the Accra Sports Stadium and Cape Coast Stadium in addition to Baba Yara for maintenance works.
The Sports Ministry directed GFA to request CAF's inspection but the latter is yet to take action according to the Minister.
"It’s not that we don’t have FIFA-standard pitches in Ghana; we do have FIFA-standard pitches in Cape Coast, Accra, and Kumasi," Ussif told Parliament's Sports Select Committee on Tuesday, September 24.
"It is not true that we lack FIFA-standard stadiums in Ghana. It is up to CAF to decide.
"We have written to them to request an inspection of the Accra Sports Stadium and Cape Coast Sports Stadium, and they have yet to respond."
There are reports Ghana could end up hosting their next home match abroad with no stadium in the country meeting CAF's requirement.
The Black Stars take on Sudan on October 11 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with Togo, Nigeria or Ivory as possible destinations.
