The National Peace Council (NPC) has asked the founder of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare and the Chiefs and people of Nogokpo to remain calm over the recent feud raging between them. 

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, June 6, the Peace Council said the issue if not addressed properly could negatively impact the “peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance in the country.”

The Council has thus advised the feuding parties to desist from further commentaries on the issue and submit themselves for an amicable redress.

The statement said “The attention of the Council has also been drawn to statements that have been made by some religious personalities in the country regarding the same issue.

“Recognizing the fact that the impasse if not quickly addressed may have consequences on peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance in the country, the National Peace Council, in pursuit of its mandate to facilitate conflict prevention, appeals to the Nogokpo Traditional Authorities and Perez Chapel International to remain calm and not give in to provocations as efforts are being undertaken to address the situation,” excerpts of the statement said. 

The statement added that the Volta Regional Peace Council has commenced processes to engage the parties. 

“We want to inform the public that the Volta Regional Peace Council has begun the process to engage the parties for amicable redress.”

Meanwhile, it has also advised the citizenry to cherish the peace the country currently enjoys as it was not gained on a silver platter.

“The Council concludes by respectfully reminding Ghanaians of how far we have come as one nation, living together as one people for many years.”

Already, the Chiefs and people of Nogokpo in the Ketu South Municipality have given Archbishop Charles Agyinasare 14 days to appear before the traditional leaders.

This comes after a video of him categorising the town as the headquarters of demons in the Volta Region went viral on social media.

Earlier, the General Overseer had said he had no intention to cast a slur on certain groups of people or their communities and had described “any misrepresentation or misinformation that has characterised the subsequent commentary and reportage” as unfortunate.

But the Chiefs insist that failure on the part of the man of God to appear before them would compel them to take another action.

According to them, the Archbishop must do the right thing after tarnishing the image of the town.

Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, on the third day of a Summit held recently at the headquarters of Perez Chapel in Accra, preached about divine protection and the existence of evil forces.

During his preaching, the archbishop recounted an incident where his team received spiritual attacks for hosting a crusade in the Volta Region.

“During this crusade in Aflao, we slept at Agbozume, that was where our hotel was, and you must go through Nogokpo. And Nogokpo is the demonic headquarters in the Volta Region.

“We only have not said it but the second night I made Bishop Yaw Adu talk about witchcraft and we disgraced the witches and wizards.

”When we were driving from Aflao to Agbozume, immediately we got to Nogokpo, Bishop Yaw Adu’s four-wheel drive, the tyre came out from under the car,“ he recounted.

But following the publication of the video online, the Church leader has come under heavy criticism and backlash from many social media users.
