The newly announced running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is placing President Akufo-Addo on a high pedestal.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh declared that no president has developed the nation like President Akufo-Addo.
This includes Ghana's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, whose tenure he believes saw fewer accomplishments compared to President Akufo-Addo’s.
He said this during his unveiling ceremony in Kumasi on Tuesday.
“Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah... no president who has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the NPP flagbearer, Dr Bawumia has praised Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as a "problem solver and a generational thinker."

This attribute, he says would compliment him hence his partnership with Napo for the 2024 general election.
"When I was selecting my vice presidential candidate, I looked for someone who could help me win the election with experience from the legislative branch since I was a banker and my search landed me in Ashanti region whom I chose Napo... He has insight, a problem solver and a generational thinker and I know we share the same vision," he said.
