The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has refuted claims there is a shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in parts of Accra. Reports of the shortages started this week with a few service stations having to close down. But Public Affairs Manager of the authority; Yaro Kasambata tells Joy Business the country has enough LPG storage. He explained the challenges may be due to distribution of the product. “We have LPG in the country. There are several reasons why a particular station might not have LPG at a particular time. That cannot be translated to mean shortage because as I speak with you we have enough in our national storage” he noted. There could also be technical challenges or contractual difficulties between importer, the distributor and the marketer which could affect the distribution flow of the product. There is no shortage of the product on the market” he emphasized.
