The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Yendi, Farouk Aliu Mahama has revealed he won in the just-ended primaries because he started his campaign earlier.
He said his opponents Abibata and Osman Baba Daney were formidable contenders but he emerged victorious because he started his campaign in 2016.
According to him, he invested resources and supported the incumbent MP and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Habib Tijani to retain the seat for the NPP.
“In 2016 I was there to support the current MP and the party to win power. I invested resources and even adopted some poling stations as well.
“I was there again in 2017 again till now and support the party during the constituency elections and other party activities,” he stated.
Farouk Aliu Mahama added that he conducted a need assessment of the constituents and supported the people in agriculture, education, health and jobs creation.
He further stated these initiatives were successfully implemented through the Aliu Mahama Foundation and his NGO, Partnership for Poverty Reduction (PPR).
He believes all these culminated in his victory on Saturday with 244 votes.
Deputy MASLOC CEO, Abibata Shaani Mahama pulled 210 while Osman Baba Daney got 134.
