Some executives of the ruling NDC in the Offinso South constituency say they will petition the regional and national executives of the party to call the constituency chairman, Adu Boateng Boahene to order.
The executives, made up of zonal and constituency executives say the conduct of their chairman is not only dividing the support base of the party but also impeding development in the area.
The executives who out of fear of victimization by the chairman have been holding secret meetings, warned that any delay on the part of leadership to call to order Mr. Boateng, who they say is bent on seeing the MCE, Victor Amponsah removed from office would be a recipe for disaster for the NDC.
The Offinso constituency chairman, Adu Boateng contested for the Municipal Chief Executive position with the incumbent, Victor Amponsah.
He swore to make life difficult for the MCE after he lost the election. Mr. Boateng is alleged to have told party executives to remove the MCE from office because he has failed to honour their financial obligations.
The MCE, Victor Amponsah is on suspension for leaving post without authorization.
But Mr. Adu Boateng said in an interview on Nhyira FM this week that the MCE should rather be dismissed.
The zonal and constituency executives who call themselves ‘peace ambassadors’ are accusing the constituency chairman of bringing the image of the party into disrepute.
They say his call for the removal of the MCE is for his parochial interest and does not represent the views of supporters of the party.
Spokesperson for the executives, Musah Karim wants the constituency chairman investigated for misconduct, alleging that he has been making a monthly deduction of GHS5 from the about 1,113 members of Mass Cocoa Spraying programme.
Musah entreated the Regional Minister and regional party executives to investigate the issue as it is bringing disgrace to the party in Offinso.
"…We want people to know that what the chairman is saying is not the true situation in Offinso here. He is talking on his own accord without consulting anybody," Mr Musah told Nhyira FM, adding that the executives will petition both the regional and national executives to intervene to call the chairman to order.
Mr. Boateng however will not dismiss or confirm the allegations leveled against him. He rather directed Nhyira News to speak to the Regional Executives.
"You can cross-check it from my regional office," he directed, and accused the suspended MCE, Victor Amponsah of masterminding what he calls ‘unnecessary accusations’.
He said "I know it's sabotage from the MCE, a person whom I have not sent. If you have been suspended, why can’t you sit down and pray so that you will be recalled than planning mere allegations", he explained in a phone interview with Nhyira FM.
