A deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has said the released 39-page book entitled Better Ghana Agenda Top 50 Achievements of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills-led government in his first two years in office is causing fear and panic in the NPP.
According to him, the opposition NPP is shocked at the massive achievements chalked in the first two years of the Mills administration which they could not achieve in their eight years in office.
The Ministry of Information, as part of efforts to trumpet the achievements of the government, published a 39-page book which contains the list of 50 achievements by the NDC government since they took over power in January, 2009.
Among the achievements are increase in cocoa price to GHC 2000 per bag, capitation grant; payment of 50 per cent of the TOR debt; the implementation of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and reduction in inflation among others.
Meanwhile, the NPP at a press conference on Thursday December 9 in Accra condemned the publication describing it as a propaganda tool of the NDC, saying it was a waste of tax payers' money.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, programme, Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa said the NPP is making frantic efforts to discredit the book because they know with these achievements; Ghanaians will retain the NDC in office come 2012.
He noted that “even if you cut your head for the NPP, they will say you did not cut it well enough. This is a well researched, documented material with pictures of what has been achieved on the ground and so there is no way this would be a fabrication”.
Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa however dispelled suggestions that the publication is a waste of state resources. He said the publication of the book was done through fund raising.
