One person is feared dead and several others have sustained varying degrees of injuries following a horrific collision between an STC van and a tricycle near the Fidelity Bank stretch in Ho around 9:30 PM on Monday evening.
Eyewitnesses say the STC van, which was travelling at high speed from the direction of Accra, crashed forcefully into the tricycle.
The impact of the collision was devastating, with one victim left lying in a pool of blood. His head was reportedly smashed, with visible brain matter exposed — raising fears that he may have died instantly at the scene.
Emergency personnel swiftly responded to the scene and conveyed the injured to hospital for treatment.
A passenger aboard the STC van, Apostle Prosper Agbeti, squarely blamed the crash on the driver's recklessness.
“The driver was making and receiving calls throughout the journey while speeding,” he alleged.
Apostle Agbeti also refuted claims by some bystanders that the accident may have been caused by brake failure, stressing instead that it was a result of “total negligence.”
Other passengers aboard the van suffered injuries ranging from deep cuts to suspected fractures. They have all been transferred to the Ho Teaching Hospital for emergency medical care.
