The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) saved approximately GH¢5.73 billion for the state and secured seven convictions in 2025, according to the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition’s State of Corruption Report 2025.

The report says the OSP initiates 71 investigations during the year as part of efforts to tackle corruption and corruption-related offences.

It also recovers GH¢6.5 million and US$2 million, while assets valued at more than GH¢102 million are seized in connection with corruption investigations.

The GACC describes the OSP’s activities as part of notable progress recorded by state accountability institutions in 2025.

“The Office of the Special Prosecutor initiated 71 investigations, secured 7 convictions, and saved approximately GHS 5.73 billion,” the report states.

"Recovered GHS 6.5 million and US$2 million, and seized assets valued at over GHS 102 million," the report disclosed.

According to the report, the OSP’s interventions, alongside audits, prosecutions, asset recovery and public education by other accountability institutions, contributed to strengthening Ghana’s anti-corruption efforts.

The OSP’s mandate includes investigating and prosecuting corruption-related offences and recovering proceeds of corruption. Its official records also confirm seven convictions and highlight its work in recovering public assets and preventing financial losses to the state.

Despite these gains, the GACC cautions that corruption remains resilient, with gaps in enforcement, implementation, political will and sustainable funding continuing to undermine the country’s fight against corruption.
