The Founder of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Dr Obed Yao Asamoah, has stated that the over liberalization of trade by the nation has contributed to unemployment in the country.
He explained that the situation has weakened the strength of local farmers whose produce are poorly patronized, thus making many of these farmers stay out of job.
He added that the situation has also contributed to the collapse of some local industries in the country such as the Komenda Sugar Factory, Pomadze Factory and Asebu Citrus Factory among others.
Dr Obed Asamoah said this on Monday when he addressed the chiefs and people of Assin Nsuta in the Assin South District of the Central Region recently.
He also stated that his party would solve the problem of over liberalization by modernizing agriculture in order to create jobs for the people.
He noted that the DFP was poised to promote rural development, adding that the party will subsidize agro products for farmers and create a ready market for the local farmers so as to alleviate poverty in the rural areas.
According to Dr Obed Asamoah, the party has put in place measures to set up an Agro-based Industry to produce agricultural chemicals and equipment to facilitate the work of the local farmers.
He said the party believed in the youth, indicating that it was the reason why it has elected a youthful person to nurture the country for development. He charged the party supporters to explain DFP's policies to people and conduct themselves in a respectable manner in order not to jeopardize the peace prevailing in the country.
The Presidential candidate of the DFP, Mr Emmanuel Ansah-Antwi, said the DFP would introduce "Green Revolution", stressing that the party will improve agriculture and the livelihood of local farmers by putting in place the needed logistics and a ready market for farmers.
He added that an agricultural development allegedly would be established by his government to recruit the youth who would benefit from loans from banks to improve agriculture in the country.
Ansah-Antwi said his government would improve all road networks linking big towns to make transportation of farm produce to cities easy. He added that the DFP would make traditional authorities active members of local government in order to bring development to the rural communities.
The DFP parliamentary candidate for the area, Mr Kenneth Gyasi, appealed to the people to give the DFP a chance so that they provide the needed infrastructure for development when voted into power.
