Phew! Where did the year 2021 go, maybe that is your response at this time of the year. Here on this blog, we celebrate the goodness of the Lord through the power of praise and worship with 12-Spirit-filled songs in the year under review. And I have news for you, your Christmas Music blog is in its fifth year this year! Glory be to God. You can access last year’s version here.
Merry Christmas to you. May the love of God reign in your heart and the birth of The Christ bring you peace.
We’ve all had varied experiences in a year where the world is still feeling the ravaging effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and just as we were getting out of the woods to a normal life, then came the omicron variant. You may have lost a loved one, lost a loving relationship, lost a job, dreams crushed and all, hear this “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead” – Philippians 3:13 [NKJV].
#1 Wait On You by Elevation Worship & Maverick City
Yes, this word ‘wait’. And all that comes in is the verse Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Which parts are also captured in the song- “Wait on the Lord, He will renew your strength” Maybe you have been waiting and praying for something for a while, you are growing weary, impatient, ride on the wings and power of this song in your process of waiting, He will come through my brother, my sister. Keep praying, keep believing!
# 2 To Know You by Dunsin Oyekan
Wow, what a song from an amazing minister of the Lord, Dusin! I love this song so much, I have had many engagements with it throughout the year. And yes, it is all about knowing him and also being like him. May the Lord help us with this noble quest.
# 3 Wade in the Water by The Spirituals
If you first learned of this song first on TikTok, let me hear your Amen. . . lol. A solemn story-like song in a groovy sound is all you need to put some groove into your mood of gloom. To the uninitiated, this is the story about the message through Moses to Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt. And the phrase “Let My People Go” can be traced to Exodus 5:1 in the Old Testament.
# 4 Hallelujah Challenge Praise by Medley Nathaniel Bassey
We continue in a similar groovy fashion, this time switching it up a notch. Yeah the Hallelujah challenge on IG on those glorious nights with African finest Nathaniel Bassey is here culminating in a sweet medley. Don’t let anything stop your praise, somebody shout Hallelujah!
