The chiefs and people of Gomoa Mprumaim in the Central Region have held a durbar to round-off their annual Akwanbo festival with a call on the youth to be mindful of their sexual behaviour to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.
The chief of the town Nana Owom X said the youth play important role in the development of every country and that the nation should not lose its manpower to the disease.
Nana Owom said the people are undertaking a three-year development programme involving the construction of a library and an electrification project.
He said the projects are being undertaken through communal labour and voluntary contribution from some personalities staying in the United States of America.
Nana Owom said Ms Susana Wooney and Mr. Mac Goekoher, both Americans who have been installed Nkwosuohene and Sanahene respectfully of the town, and he have contributed a total of 650 million cedis towards the projects.
The chief appealed to the people in the area to take advantage of the school feeding programme and the capitation grant to send their children to school.
