At this juncture, one may ask. What is the definition of jama?
A lot of big English may be used to describe the infectious sessions that charge groups of people into a frenzy. At its core, jama is an African chant rhythm.
And so it was at the 2016 Joy Sports Invitational, where all 14 teams provided the best the competition has seen in its decade-long existence. The striking thing was not even the music, but the fervour as well.
Sweating, clapping, honking, drumming, gyrating, screaming...all in rhythm. It was as if there was something at stake. Indeed, there was.
It is widely acknowledged that the men's football trophy is the most coveted, but ask any of the veterans of the Joy Sports Invitational and they'd remark on how important the Team Spirit award is.
On Saturday at the El Wak Stadium, GHACEM's brass band accompanied workers to begin the onslaught very early in the morning. But as the day wore on, EMIGOH Ghana and Fatom Construction came into the picture. Unirob did not do bad either, neither did Nugget Engineering and Regency View Estates.
But the most consistent was Nestle Ghana, and they deservedly won. However, from dawn till dusk, all 14 companies provided a stupendous backdrop for what was a wonderful event.

Nestle were in fantastic form all day long...
EMIGOH Ltd provided plenty creative tunes as well...

FATOM Construction matched their dominance in the 100m heats with equally charged jama

Cargill Ltd's ladies and gents were not to be left out!

And it all went crazy when EMIGO'Hs Stephen Eku bagged the CEO shootout's trophy

And Sapholda Ventures did their jama mostly while warming up!
