Two teenagers and a driver are in the grips of the Kumasi police they were arrest at a police snap check point whilst returning from an alleged robbery voyage.Faisal Karim and Agya Adu, both 18 and their accomplice, 38-year old driver Owusu Bempah were arrested at dawn on Wednesday, police say.The police retrieved a locally manufactured pistol and a large amount of money from the suspects.The suspects are allegedly robbed a trader at Kronum of GH¢1,800 and other personal belongings.A search also led to the discovery of three unused cartridges, a Techno mobile phone as well as Voter and National Health Insurance identity cards of persons believed robbery victims.The taxi cab used by the robbers, a Toyota Corolla caravan with Registration Number AS 2066 Y has been impounded.
Regional Police Operations Commander, Julius Kpebbeson, who underscores the importance of snap checks, wants residents to give police all the needed cooperation to help bring robbery under control.He is unhappy many residents over the years have been castigating the police for mounting unannounced road checks because on inconvenience.“Policing in society is a shared responsibility and the police is a friend and not an enemy. We are not on the road to inconvenience the society but we are there in the interest of the very people who at times feel we are unduly delaying their movement,” DSP Kpebbeson noted.Meanwhile, police have mounted search for a fourth accomplice identified only as Murderer believed to be the supplier of the weapons.
