The suspects have been identified as Issaku Ibrahim, 42; Fatau Ali, 25; Yahaya Mumuni, 26; and Emmanuel Antwi, 22.
Police retrieved a large cache of items from the suspects, including two pump-action guns, one Bruni Mod 84 Cal. 9 PAK pistol with a magazine loaded with eight rounds of ammunition, one amulet or talisman, a machete, two CCTV decoders, cash amounting to GH¢198,200, 14 AA cartridges, an iPhone 13 mobile phone, a Nokia C300 mobile phone and a Villovan mobile phone.
A police situational report said the four suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue. It added that efforts are underway, in collaboration with community members, to apprehend another suspect who is currently on the run.
According to the report, one additional suspect was arrested by community members in the morning and later handed over to the police to assist with ongoing investigations.
The report explained that on March 12, 2026, at about 1920 hours, one Chen Zchao, a Chinese national residing in an unmarked house at Malta, a suburb of Asankragwa, together with Christopher Opoku of the same address, reported to the charge office that at about 1830 hours on the same day he was at his spare parts shop with his younger brother, Yao Chan, when six armed men attacked them.
“The suspects robbed them of their personal belongings, including three mobile phones (value yet to be determined) and cash amounting to GH¢200,000.00. The suspects subsequently fled the scene in a black Toyota Voxy vehicle heading towards Sefwi Bekwai. The complainant, therefore, requested police assistance.”
