The Suame Divisional Police Command in Kumasi have mounted a search for a chief who is alleged to have conspired with three others to murder a 28-year old man at Adankwame near Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya District.
Police say the chief, Nana Kwaku Nsiah has gone into hiding since the murder of Kwabena Boadu and are appealing to the public to help trace him.
According to Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah the deceased, also known as Father, was allegedly shot several times by three persons; a son of the chief, a nephew and another person identified as a family friend, who are all at large.
They were said to have ambushed the deceased and his nephew on a cattle ranch and opened fire on them on December 18. This followed a quarrel the previous day between an elder brother of the deceased, Linford Owuo, alias CD, and the chief.
Suleimana Baba, who survived the attack, told Nhyira FM in Kumasi that the assailants fired several shots in an attempt to kill them.
Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Kwaku Dua however said efforts to arrest the chief, who had before Boadu was killed, lodged a complaint against Cedi have so far proven fruitless. The chief’s phone is off, while nobody appears to know where he passed.
“Strenuous efforts are being made to get the perpetrators of the crime to book and I will assure you that we’ll get the perpetrators arrested. The name of one Nana Kwaku Nsiah has come out and we are making every effort to get him arrested.”
