The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has inaugurated a new district within the Ga West Presbytery as part of efforts to strengthen and enhance the church’s administration and growth.
The new district, known as the Awoshie District, was carved out of the Kwashieman District and officially inaugurated last Sunday.
With its creation, the Awoshie District becomes the 22nd district within the Ga West Presbytery and the 390th district of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana nationwide.

The Zion Congregation in Awoshie has been designated as the district office.
In addition to Zion Congregation, the district comprises five other congregations and a preaching point, namely Grace Congregation, Awoshie; Mount Sinai Congregation, Ante Aku; Divine Congregation, Anyaa; Royal Priesthood Congregation, North Sowutuom; Victory Congregation, Omanjour; and the Anyaa Last Stop Preaching Point.
The creation of the Awoshie District is expected to bring church leadership closer to members, enhance effective administration, and promote the church's growth and mission within the area.
Church officials noted that the restructuring aligns with the PCG’s commitment to expansion and efficient management, ensuring that congregations receive adequate pastoral care and support as the church continues to grow.
The Reverend Minister of the PCG Zion Congregation, Beatrice Ansah Kwakye, who was inducted as the first District Minister of the Awoshie District, described the new district as “a sign of growth and a new opportunity for mission and service.”
She called on the Presbytery, agents, group leaders, and congregations to work together to build on the foundation laid by their forefathers to ensure the district's progress and development, adding, “Let us remember that we have a charge to keep.”
Delivering a sermon at the ceremony, the Chairperson of the Ga West Presbytery, Reverend Enoch Adjei Pobee, urged Christians to live godly lives and to commit their ways to God.

He cautioned against corruption, unethical practices, and immoral behaviour, stressing that genuine Christian faith must be reflected in visible integrity.
The ceremony also featured the introduction of the Lay Rep and Clerk of the Awoshie District, as well as the dedication of the Zion Mission House (Manse).
The event was attended by members of the Ga West Presbytery Council, other ministers, agents, and group leaders from various districts within the Presbytery.
