Preparations for the 2016 Torch and Bonfire Night being organized by the 2006 year group of Presec, Legon have commenced in earnest.
The Ghana Police Service has been prepping for the big event. Eight thousand Ɔdadeɛ (as Presec Old students are known) are expected to converge on school campus this evening for the annual bonfire and networking night.
Obviously, the bar had been raised by their predecessors, who, under the auspices of the National Alumni body staged arguably one of the most memorable and eye-catching alumni rendezvous in the country.
To surpass an event which has lingered on in the minds of patrons and non-patrons alike requires an ambition which must exceed merely functional activities.
This onus was recognized right from the onset by the 2006 year group and has been the guiding principle in putting together another resplendent display of entertainment, fireworks, as well as promoting peaceful elections this year.
Already, social media is buzzing with activities related to and leading up to the Torch and Bonfire Night.
Most of the reputable radio and TV stations have granted some avenue for publicity of the upcoming event either through jingles or LPMs, video sharing and live interactions with representatives of the organizing year group and many more. The media sweep-through continues as the event edges closer.
Lasy year, the event came off in the heart of the school. This year, due to the expected huge numbers, the school field will be the venue.

Attendees, both Ɔdadeɛ and non-Ɔdadeɛ should brace themselves for a night of music and entertainment with alumni such as EL (Elorm Adablah), Eugene Baah (Praye hor ne hor) etc, exceptional fireworks display, a smorgasbord of delicacies and drinks for all and the unique opportunity to network and build meaningful business and non-business relationships.
In addition to that, the essence of fostering peace in all nooks and crannies of the country will be emphasized and advocated.
With regards to preparations, various permits on the campus as well as off-campus have been secured. The required security apparatus has been contacted and the necessary agreements reached.
Deployment of the same will be done during the span of prelude activities on the day till all activities come to a close.
Food stands and a general provision for consumables has been catered for as reputable vendors within the country try to outbid one another to be a part of the evening.
Barring any unexpected events, the Torch and Bonfire Night slated for Friday the 7th of October should come on unhindered and after it has passed, remain a remarkable memory in the minds of the organizers, patrons as well as well-wishers.
THINGS TO NOTE:

VIDEO PREVIEW:
One of Presec's old students, Paul Adom-Otchere, is the long-time host of critically-acclaimed Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV.
He hosted the National President of Ɔdadeɛ as well as the Chief Ops Officer of the Ghana Commercial Bank and the chief organiser of the 2016 Torch and Bonfire Night, Joe Lamptey.
Social media has been awash with images of old boys (and girls!) who have had their images across the event fliers. It's been fun!
