The former president, John Agyekum Kufuor has pledged his support for the Ghana Medical Relief (GMR), a non-profit organisation made up of medical practitioners and volunteers based in US and Ghana which provides free medical services to deprived communities in Ghana.
He made this known on Monday when the GMR team paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Accra.
The Former President was happy about the initiative of the organisation to mobilize healthcare professionals and volunteers from USA and Ghana for free healthcare in different communities annually and pledge his support for the team.

GMR has organised free screening services for residents of Anomabo in the Central region
The President of Ghana Medical Relief, Dr. Samuel Kwapong Owusu, a physician, expressed gratitude to the Former President for hosting the team and looked forward to Ghana Medical Relief partnering with the John Agyekum Kufuor (JAK) Foundation to improve the health of citizens especially in deprived communities.
The GMR successfully embarked on a free four-day medical outreach in Anomabo where services such as Paediatric urology, medical, dental, gynecology and obstetrics among others were provided to 3000 people.
Last year, the team was at Asiakwa in the Eastern Region and provided similar services to the indigenes of the area.

The organisation work in collaboration with hospitals, churches, and agencies in the United States for supplies and medical equipment that are donated to hospitals and clinics in Ghana.
To date, the organisation has donated hospital beds, ultrasound machines, examination tables, cardiac defibrillators, operating room equipment, and numerous medical supplies/medications to several hospitals and clinics in Ghana.
The goal of the organisation is to provide free healthcare missions annually in Ghana.
