President of Rugby Africa, Herbert Mensah, has officially arrived in Uganda ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup 2025 (RAC2025)—the continent’s premier rugby competition and direct pathway to the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
Set to kick off on Tuesday, July 8, this year’s tournament returns to Uganda for the second consecutive time and promises to be even bigger and better.
With the Nelson Mandela Stadium as its battleground, eight nations—Uganda, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Algeria, Kenya, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Morocco—will clash for continental glory and World Cup qualification.
The winner of RAC2025 will earn automatic qualification to the 2027 Rugby World Cup, while the runner-up heads to a global repechage, where one final ticket to the world stage will be up for grabs.
Host nation Uganda has gone the extra mile in preparations—upgrading facilities, energizing local support, and backing the Rugby Cranes, who are currently on a rigorous Southern Africa tour to fine-tune their performance and keep the trophy on home soil.
President Mensah, who has been instrumental in the transformation of African rugby, expressed his excitement about this year’s edition and its potential to elevate the game across the continent.
