The Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni-Valley in the Western Region, Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, has extended financial support to sixty-five university students from his constituency under his Annual MP’s Support to Students Initiative.
Each beneficiary received ₵3,000 to help cover tuition and hostel fees, bringing the total amount disbursed to nearly ₵200,000.
Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony, Mr Cudjoe said the initiative was inspired by research he conducted during his tenure as District Chief Executive, which revealed the urgent need to support young people in the district to advance their education.

“Sometime ago, when I was the District Chief Executive, I did research which showed that children in this district needed help to advance their education,” he explained. “So, I pushed for a system that ensured that every money that comes to the assembly, two per cent will go into the youth’s education.”
He recalled how the programme, which initially supported many students through teacher training and nursing colleges as well as universities, was halted after the 2016 elections but has now been revived and expanded.

“When I became MP in 2021, I brought back the programme, but it didn’t stand. Now that I am back in power, I have elevated the support for students. This is the second batch of 65 students, and every one of them is receiving ₵3,000,” he said.
The MP added that more students would benefit in the coming year.
“As I speak, about 45 more students have submitted their applications, and in the first quarter of 2026, they will also receive their support. This will not be a one-time event. We’ll continue to assist as and when applications come in,” he assured.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support and study hard to become future leaders.
One of the female beneficiaries expressed her gratitude for the assistance, saying, “I will use part of the money to pay my hostel fees, and I am very grateful for what the MP has done. God bless him for this support.”
Another beneficiary also shared how the initiative has eased his financial burden.
“Back in school, I struggled to pay my fees last year, so I applied for this MP scholarship and was selected. It has reduced my financial burden, and I can now focus on my studies. I thank the MP for this support and pray for God’s blessings upon him.”
Mr Cudjoe reaffirmed his commitment to education in the constituency, emphasising that investing in young people remains a key priority of his leadership.
