The Ashanti Regional Police Command says the prime suspect in the murder of Asamponghene, a sub-chief of the Asantehene has been transported to Kumasi.
Mohammed Sadat aka Alhaji was transferred to Kumasi on Tuesday under the watch of armed police team that has been dispatched to Burkina Faso.
A statement signed by the Regional Police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo said the suspect was arrested through the collaboration of police in Ashanti and Upper East regions as well as the Ghana Embassy in neighbouring Burkina Faso.
"Sadat is in custody assisting in investigations. He had fled to neighbouring Burkina Faso to settle with family but luck, however, eluded him and was arrested," the statement said.
The body of Nana Afuduo, 47, a close relative of Asantehene who until his enstoolment was the chief driver of the Asantehene was found in the back seat of his Toyota Land Cruiser last month.
Police say his assailants also set his vehicle on fire to cover up traces of the murder. It took the intervention of members of a church who were returning from a prayer meeting to douse the fire in the vehicle.

The murdered sub-chief was last seen at the Odeneho Kwadaso residence of Alhaji and later travelled in a convoy until his body was found on the Ejura-Nkoranza Highway.
Alhaji’s arrest brings to five the number of suspects arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of the late close relative of Asantehene.
Three people, linguist, close-confidant and a friend were arrested and granted bail less than 24-hours of Nana Afoduo's murder.
Also in police custody is the wife of the spiritualist, Nana Yaa Asantewaa Bonsu. The queen mother of Pakyi Number 1 in the Ashanti region is the mother couple's two children.
She is said to be assisting the police in their investigations.
