The Head of Education, Research and Training with the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department, (MTTD) Superintendent Alexander Obeng, has called on government to prioritise the dualisation of major highways in the country.
According to him, as a matter of urgency, the country must consider the dualisation of the major highways to reduce road accidents the country is facing.
“If you’re operating a road safety system that would not recognise or anticipate and accommodate human errors and prevent consequent death or aid serious injury, you are bound to fail.
"For how long shall we sit down without preventing head-on collision involving high occupancy buses?” he quizzed.
The latest data from the MTTD indicates that as many as 256 people died from road crashes in July 2021 alone.
It brings to 1,706, the number of people who have been killed through road accidents since the beginning of this year.
