The Inter-party Resistance Against the New Voter’s Register has served notice it will proceed with a series of mass actions against the Electoral Commission’s decision to compile a new voters’ register.
The group had earlier suspended protests against the EC’s decision, having organised two successful mammoth protests – one in Tamale and another in Kumasi.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the group said, in due course, its will announce the form, venue and dates for such actions to drum home further the need to speedily drop “the dangerous and wasteful thought of compiling a new register.”
In the statement, Bernard Mornah, Chairman of People’ National Convention (PNC) and a member of the coalition decried “the act of bad faith expressed by the Electoral Commission (EC) in the syndicated publication of the date for the commencement of the new voter’s registration exercise.”
