The people of Pruso, a farming community in the Nkoranza South District of the Brong Ahafo Region, have realized GHc 1000.00 at a fund raising rally towards the construction of a teachers' bungalow.
Nana Boakye Yiadom, Chief of the town, made a personal donation of GHc 300 in support of the project.
He commended the people for their unity, co-operation, and communal spirit and advised them to maintain that attitude to enhance the development of the community.
The chief urged the youth not to allow partisan politics to divide them as that would jeopardize the development plans for the area.
Nana Boakye advised parents to enroll their children in school, since education is the only worthy legacy they could bequeath to them.
Mr Charles Ofori-Yeboah, Circuit Supervisor, noted that the provision of the bungalow would sustain the interest of teachers to serve diligently in the area.
He called on parents to co-operate with and encourage teachers in moulding their children to become disciplined and responsible leaders in future.
The Circuit Supervisor appealed to other rural communities to emulate the people of Pruso and provide accommodation for teachers.
Madam Mary Alamisi-Azongo, Assembly Member, urged parents to pay regular visits to the school to monitor the performance of their children and also to encourage the teachers.
She cautioned the school children against attending video shows and called on parents to collaborate with teachers in checking the practice.
Mr Joseph Kombian, Headmaster, expressed concern that the three classroom block could not contain the 230 pupils in the school as a result of which some of them had their classes under trees.
