The immediate past Deputy General Secretary in charge of Education and Professional Development at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Gifty Apambil is asking the government to establish demonstration schools in every district.
She is optimistic with the provision of the necessary resources, the pupils prepared to utilize the schools.
“Teachers are yearning to prove to Ghanaians that quality public education is possible. We want every district to have a demonstration school from KG up to JHS.
“Let us experiment and see how it works so we can expand it to every school,” she advised.
“Our children are ready to learn,” she added.
She was speaking at the 5th GNAT, Canadian Teachers Federation (CTF/FCE) workshop at Abankro in the Ashanti region.
GNAT has been collaborating with CTF/FCE)to organise workshops for teachers and headteachers nationwide. It is meant to train newly recruited teachers in literacy, numeracy, and provide the necessary mentorship.
154 newly recruited teachers and headteachers from the Volta region were able to attend the programme.
GNAT General Secretary, Thomas Tanko Musah charged teachers to abide by the code of conduct.
“It’s for your own good to read the code and it’s for your good to abide by what the code is saying,” he said.
