Residents of Krofrom and its environs in Kumasi trooped to the premises of FamCare Diagnostics and Medical Consult to receive free healthcare.
The beneficiaries were examined for common health conditions like blood pressure, Hepatitis B and blood sugar.
Health screening in most cases helps in the early detection of a particular disease or health condition that may or may not show any signs or symptoms.
Early detection, when followed by treatment and control of the condition, will result in a positive outcome and lower risk of serious health complications.
The gesture forms part of FamCare Diagnostics and Medical Consult's corporate social responsibility.
Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kofi Frimpong Oppong, says “there are a lot of sicknesses related to blood sugar and blood pressure and we want everybody in this community to know their medical status when it comes to their BP, sugar level, Hepatitis B, and malaria check-ups as well. We are doing these as part of our corporate social responsibility, we want to help people in our community.
“We want to make going to the hospital for a medical check very easy and the cost is not too expensive and the doctors here are specialists from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital”.
The exercise also forms part of a campaign for holistic medical services since the inception of the Consult three years ago.
A 71-year-old beneficiary, Paul Yaw Senya, is happy he participated in the exercise and encouraged his fellow older folks to be mindful of their health.
“It is very necessary to have a check-up as we are growing and honestly I won't get it like this anywhere. I have been treated well as if I know them already and was given medicine for free,” he said.
