Residents of Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern region finally have water flowing through their taps after weeks of struggling to get water.
The Ghana Water Company attributed its failure to supply water to the community to the drying up of the Densu River as a result of the harmattan.
Communications Manager at the Ghana Water company, Stanley Martey in an interview with Joy News indicated that there’s very little the company could do at the moment.
Joy News Latif Iddris was in the community earlier this week and revealed that the water shortage in the community and other parts of the region was caused by activities of sand-winners.
Latif Iddris who travelled to Kyekyewere, also found out that the Kuya River was blocked and as such the Ghana Water Company is not getting enough water to treat distribution.
The problem affected children and businesses in the community, but It appears it has currently been fixed.

“At full capacity, the water company produces about 1 million gallons of water to the entire municipality but now because of the improvement in the water flow, I have been told they have started with Nsawam which between 400,000 and 500,000 and then the will extend the supply to other parts of the municipality.”
