The Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana, (SSA-UoG) has served notice it will be resuming an industrial action on Thursday, January 21, 2021.
The move, according to the association is due to the failure of National Labor Commission to resolve issues of their conditions of service.
In October last year, the group, which is made up of non-teaching senior staff in public universities, suspended its strike in demand of better conditions of service, after the National Labor Commission secured an injunction barring it from continuing the action.
But, the group says it will resume its strike because several attempts to get the commission to address their concerns have failed.
A statement signed by the National President of the association, Zukaria Mohammed said the non-payment of the Tier two pension arrears of members, market premium and non-basic allowance, as well as the migration of Public Universities on to the Controller and Accountant General’s Payroll system is a contributing factor.
According to the statement, all efforts made by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Association to engage stakeholders to address the concerns had proved futile, hence the strike action.
