The phenomenon of musical beef seems to have found its way into 2021.
And it’s been ushered into the new year on no other shoulders than that of controversial Ghanaian musician, Shatta Wale with a target on the back of 'African Giant' Burna Boy.
The two have been close friends for a while now making the sudden fallout surprising to many music fanatics.
In a live video on Instagram, the self-acclaimed Dancehall king - known in real life as Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. - ranted for minutes about his distaste for allegations that he was at the receiving end of badmouthing by Burna Boy.

During the Christmas and New year festivities, the Grammy-nominated artiste was seen at a number of public places occasionally mingling with the top echelons of the local music industry.
Shatta Wale said throughout the period all attempts to reach his Nigerian compatriot during his stay in Ghana proved futile as his calls were never returned and text messages left without correspondence.

But according to information available to Shatta Wale, Burna Boy's seeming distancing is borne out of an incident which had not even been aware of until now.
In the video, the 'Borjor' singer recalls an interview he granted some time back where he had mentioned that Burna Boy lived in his home during one of his earlier getaways in Ghana.
He believes this comment may have infuriated Burna Boy because he has become privy to information which suggests that the 'Monsters You Made' singer has expressed disgust about the development to his close circles.
"When you came [to Ghana] there was some kind of hustle in you. I saw it. We ate chips and did things together. So if you have a problem you have to call me and tell me about it," Shatta Wale said on January 16, 2020.
Shatta Wale says he is surprised that Burna Boy has not confronted him like a brother for context but rather adopted the cold shoulder approach.
"Don't go around talking bad about me," he advised.
The Shatta Movement boss insisted that every comment about Burna in the said interview was made out of love without any malice intended.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy is yet to publicly comment on the matter.
In 2017, the two combined forces on Shatta Wale's 'Hosanna' which went on to enjoy massive airplay and wide appeal.
