Starbow, an indigenous domestic airline carrier has taken delivery of a brand new “2015 next generation” 78-seater Bombardier aircraft – Q400.

Mr. James Eric Antwi CEO of Starbow told Myjoyonline.com during the reopening of the company's Osu branch that it is the first time an airliner in Ghana has brought a brand new aircraft for operations.

"We have this Q-400 brand new aircraft from the factory which has done just 25 hours and this is the first time we are bringing a new aircraft in this country. No airline has done this before.

"This aircraft is going to augment our operations to Tamale, Kumasi and Takoradi," he said.

The spacious 78 seater aircraft produced in Canada is set to lead the company's ambitions of resuming its international flights to the West African sub region.

The brand new aircraft which arrived at the Kotoka International Airport last Saturday was witnessed by some enthusiastic Starbow staff as well as employees from other airlines.

Personnel from Ghana National Fire Service were also present to assess the aircraft and subject it to critical industry scrutiny.

The Q400 is said to have an excellent take off thrust power with a climb rate speed which competes strongly with any similar size jet.

The optimum pitch between seats gives excellent leg room comfort for passengers.

"The seats are of soft leather and are therefore extremely comfortable with a bright fresh interior and warm lighting."

 With the acquisition of the new aircraft, Mr. James Eric Antwi, said the airline will soon begin its Tamale operations with a minimum of twice daily flights.

The airline is also looking to boost its regional operations with flights to Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Mr Antwi said they have already secured licenses to a number of countries in the West African region, adding with the fight against Ebola almost over Starbow will soon begin operations into the sub-region.

Mr Antwi reopened the company's operations at its Osu offices, Tuesday.

At a short ceremony in Accra, Tuesday, the CEO said the reopening is to enhance service delivery to its customers.

The company used the Osu premises until it moved to its plush headquarters at the Airport Residential Area.

While still maintaining the Airport Offices for its mainstream operations, the reopened offices in Osu will provide quick services to customers in and around the Osu catchment areas.
