Sunyani Technical University in the Bono Region has rolled out internal measures aimed at protecting students and staff against the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a result, management at its regular meeting on Monday, 1st February 2021, has directed all Faculty Members to employ combined face-to-face and Virtual Learning tools to minimize human contacts as much as possible.
"Large classes should be broken into groups/sessions where face-to-face is required, a press statement signed by Dickson Kyere-Duah, the Public Relations Officer of the University said.
It comes on the back of the surge in cases in Ghana and the subsequent 23rd Covid-19 update by President Akufo-Addo on Sunday, 31st January 2021.
The University’s Covid-19 Taskforce and Security Section have also been directed by the management to ensure strict compliance and enforcement of the health protocols.
"Students and staff are reminded to strictly abide by the University’s policy of mandatory wearing of face masks at all times on campus", the statement said.
The statement further said all social gatherings and sporting activities are banned, except religious activities, which must only happen under very strict Covid-19 safety protocols and closely scrutinised by the University Chaplain and the University's Covid-19 Taskforce.
