The Government of Ghana has confirmed the arrest today, Saturday 9th January 2016, of a suspected British murderer, Arthur Simpson-Kent. The 48-year old Arthur is suspected of murdering his girlfriend, a former EastEnders actress, Sian Blake and her two sons.
A statement signed by the Minister for Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, said Arthur entered Ghana via the Kotoka International Airport on December 19, just days after the British authorities questioned him about the murder of his former girlfriend.
Ghana”™s security and intelligence agencies had no prior notification from their British counterparts on his arrival in Ghana, but managed to track his movements and arrested him today in Busua near Takoradi when the matter was brought to their attention.
The UK authorities have accordingly been informed of the arrest and are liaising with Ghanaian security agencies.
Police Public Affairs Director, Cephas Arthur, told Joy News Editor, Dzifa Bampoh, extradition processes would start tomorrow.
