The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested a pharmaceutical distributor, Alhaji Abdulai Sayuti, 53, for possession of opioid drugs, including tramadol and tramaking.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed Mr Sayuti was found with 368 blisters of tramadol and 298 blisters of tramadol at Victory Cimana near Aboabo in the Tamale Metropolis at the time of his arrest.
According to a statement signed by Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Lukman Neindow, further investigations led officers to a warehouse in Fou, where they discovered 447 boxes of tramadol and 11 boxes of tramaking.

Mr Sayuti appeared in court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to charges of possession of restricted drugs and the prohibited sale of the drugs.
He has been remanded into prison custody and is scheduled to reappear on July 21, 2025.
Police said the suspect collapsed in court and is currently receiving treatment at Tamale Teaching Hospital.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the drug menace in the region and appealed to the public for information to support ongoing enforcement efforts.
