KNUST TCC International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET) will be leading the Africa Engineering Week Celebration 2024 in Ghana.
This year marks the 10th-anniversary celebration of the UNESCO Africa Engineering Week.
The theme for the 2024 Africa Engineering Week is "Engineering the Future: Innovative Infrastructure Solutions for a Sustainable Africa and Swift AfCFTA Implementation".
As the continent continues to advance towards sustainable development, the collaborative efforts of African states to share expertise, resources, and create localized value chains are paving the way for progress.
By leveraging local resources to develop innovative solutions to pressing challenges, Africa is leading the creation of new markets and the expansion of existing ones.
To build stronger institutions, systems, and infrastructure around these emerging markets and solutions, engineers across the continent are pushing the boundaries of innovation and maintaining existing infrastructure.
The event will therefore highlight the continent's achievement in fostering stronger value chains to support maturing markets.
“As a UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence in engineering education, TCC-CIMET is dedicated to championing sustainable innovations and strengthening local industry value chains.
“This is particularly crucial for industries with the potential to address environmental and climate challenges, as well as for building the necessary capacity for advancing engineering expertise on the continent.
“TCC-CIMET will lead the celebration of this year's Africa Engineering Week in Ghana with a renewed commitment to driving innovation, strengthening sustainable markets through engineering, and building robust systems that integrate people, the environment, and technology to achieve continental development,” said Prof. Francis Davis, Director-General TCC-CIMET.
The celebrations will involve various engineering associations, institutions, policy-makers and students from Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Three activities have been outlined for the Africa Engineering Week Celebration. These include a webinar, a talk show, and a community creative capacity building initiative.
The week's celebration will take place from 24 September to 28 September 2024.
