Tecno Ghana has hinted that it would launch its flagship Phantom A smartphone in collaboration with the Michael Essien Foundation at that forthcoming Game of Hope on June 8, 2013. Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Tecno Ghana, Jocelene Buckman told Adom Business the collaboration with the Michael Essien Foundation is intend to project the handset as a device for trendy young people who want style with affordability, and also want a handset that works like a tablet/laptop and allows them to download lots of fun and educational materials on the go. The Tecno Ghana Head of Marketing noted that Phantom A was designed with a passion to give everybody access to innovation unlike the other brands of similar quality, which are reserved for high-end customer by reason of their prices alone. “Phantom A, aka Tecno F7 is a high-end handset by every standard but costs three times less than other brands with similar quality and specs on the market,” she said. She said the Phantom A is an upgraded version of the recently launched Tecno N7 and has a bigger screen even though it has a smaller and sleeker body than the N7. The Tecno Phantom A is a 5.0 inches touchscreen and dual-SIM handset, with 1GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB internal memory, 8.0 megapixel rare camera with flash LED, 1.3 megapixel front camera and has the Android 4.1.1 JellyBean operating system. It also comes with the Flash Share just like Tecno N7. Flash Share allows users to share information outside Wi-Fi and network connection. Tecno Ghana recently launched the Android-based Tecno N7 smartphone, which according to Mrs. Buckman is doing well on the market to the point of demand exceeding supply. But Mrs. Buckman said the Phantom A promises to give Tecno a gargantuan breakthrough because “even ahead of the official launch most of our over 300 dealers across the country have made pre-orders and have already made down payments in waiting for the launch because their customers are demanding the phone.” “We have tried and tested the Phantom A and can testify that it meets the demands of people who want a high performing device at affordable rates,” she said. Meanwhile, Mobile Zone Ghana, sole distributors of Tecno Phones in Ghana won the Mobile Distributor of the Year Award at the recent 3rd MobileWorld Ghana Telecom Awards this year. The award was not a surprise to many because Tecno’s distribution network has been touted over the years as one of the best, if not the best in the country. And the company is also known for distributing durable and most affordable handsets in the country.
