Hello, my Ghanaian name is Ekua! I was born on a Wednesday ☺️
31 years in Ghana, I love this country.
One of my earliest memories of Ghana is the hospitality of the people.
Not the polished kind you find in fancy places. The genuine kind.
In 2008, when Jimmy Castagna and his team finished building the Accra Stadium right in time for the CAN 2008, he organised a Christmas trip for the team and their families to the Western Region.
It was a beautiful trip.
We stayed at a beach resort, visited the very touching Elmina Castle, and walked the canopy bridge at Kakum National Park.
But the part I remember the most was something quite unusual at the time.
We went through the forest to reach a rock shrine and then came back down along the river. It really felt like an adventure.
What stayed with me was how people welcomed us everywhere. They offered help, guided us, and somehow always knew what to do to keep us safe.
It was simple, natural hospitality.
That made the experience memorable, and my love for Ghana grew.
Happy 69th Independence Day 🇬🇭
