The ongoing celebration of the Asogli Yam Festival received a significant boost over the weekend as key personalities and corporate institutions pledged their support for the revered cultural event.
In a colourful gathering marked by rich tradition, unity, and joy, the festival once again cemented its place as one of Ghana’s most cherished cultural events.
The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, who graced the occasion with a strong delegation, commended the Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, for his steadfast and visionary leadership over the years.
He described Togbe Afede as a symbol of integrity, development, and national pride whose influence transcends the Volta Region.
"Togbe Afede has shown true leadership, not only for his people but for Ghana at large. His wisdom, humility, and dedication to cultural preservation and national unity are deeply inspiring," the James Gunu remarked.
As a show of commitment and solidarity, the Minister donated GHS 10,000 towards the festival’s celebration, expressing his deep appreciation for the traditions that define the Asogli people and the broader Ewe heritage.

In his address, the Asogli Warlord and Dufia of Ho-Dome, Togbe Adzie Lakle Howusu XII, formally welcomed the general public to the festival and emphasized the need for active community involvement.
He assured all that this year’s event would be “bigger, better, and more fun-filled,” reflecting the unity and resilience of the Asogli people.
"This gathering is not just a celebration of harvest. It is a moment to reflect on our values, promote peace, and forge a stronger future together. I urge every resident and guest to actively participate in this celebration for the good of the Asogli State,” he said.
Adding a corporate touch to the cultural festivities, Republic Bank Ghana presented a GH₵20,000 donation to support the successful organization of the festival. The bank’s representatives highlighted the importance of cultural preservation and community engagement in national development.
"We believe in giving back to the communities we serve. Supporting the Asogli Yam Festival aligns perfectly with our values of inclusivity, growth, and cultural pride," a Republic Bank spokesperson stated.
The theme for this year’s festival, “Bringing Our People Together in Unity and Purpose to Build a Generous and Prosperous Nation,” has strongly resonated with attendees, drawing parallels with national goals for peace, shared prosperity, and social cohesion.
As celebrations continue in the Volta Region, the Asogli Yam Festival remains not only a thanksgiving tradition for a bountiful harvest but also a symbol of resilience, identity, and the enduring spirit of togetherness that defines the Ghanaian people.
