After the penultimate round of matches in the 2012/2013 Ghana Beach Soccer Championship over the weekend, Ada Assurance took another step to glory moving ahead of Sunset Sports on goal difference.
Going into the games on Saturday, both clubs (Ada Assurance and Sunset Sports) where locked on the same points with the same goal difference but an impressive display from the Ada team in their game against Tegbi Youth has given them a slight lead.
Ada Assurance put seven goals past relegation bound Tegbi Youth in what was a must-win encounter for the league leaders. They were under no illusions after witnessing closest contenders Sunset beat Havedzi Mighty Warriors by 3 goals to nil.
In an ill tempered affair, Black Sharks striker Michael Sema grabbed a hat trick as Sunset Sports beat their biggest rivals, making four straight wins and no defeat against Havedzi.
East Legon Sharks continued their impressive run in the Championship with yet another 5-3 win over struggling Teshie United.
Playing without their inspirational captain Alex Adjei on trials in Serbia, the Sharks from the east found solace in-form striker Uriel Appienti who scored a quick hat trick to unsettle the Teshie lads.
Teshie fought back with goals from Emmanuel Larbi, Ishmael Konnney and Armah Ayitey but two more goals from the Sharks gave them the viatl points which has assured their stay in the Championship.
La Yoca eager to survive the relegation drop, managed a record setting 10-8 win over neighbours Wuo Gbe. The scoreline is one of the biggest ever recorded in the beach soccer league.
Black Sharks striker Richard Osa was the man of the match after he grabbed a record 8 goals in the game; the highest by a player in a game since the start of the league.
The last encounter of the weekend proved to be yet another tight affair as Dansoman beat Nungua 5 -4.
In the Division 1division 1 league, high scoring Nima Bsc grabbed another impressive win with a 12-2 drubbing over Tema United.
Nima now lead the league on goal difference after Gulf Powers also managed a 3-0 win over Senya Sharks.
In other games, African Angels beat Winneba Giants 4-2, while Golden Eagles and Cape Coast warriors played out a 4-4 draw.
