As part of efforts to reduce HIV transmission and still express love in the month of love, Twellium Industrial Company over the week, stormed the University of Ghana, Legon and University of Professional Studies, Accra campuses to distribute over 1500 packs of female and male condoms.
The exercise, an annual initiative by the company is to complement efforts by the Ghana AIDS Commission.
On Monday, February 17, 2020, Health officials in Tema expressed worry over the latest HIV/AIDs statistics which put the municipality far above the regional figures.
Out of the 14,900 people who tested for the deadly virus, 1,222 were found to be positive.
Studies show that in Ghana, 170,000 adults diagnosed to be positive are not on Anti-Retroviral Therapy as well as 50 per cent of persons living with HIV are also not on Anti-Retroviral Therapy.
Backed by some celebrities including Benedicta Gafah and Edem Fairre, the team distributed the condoms and bottles of energy drinks while sensitising the students.

Marketing Director of Twellium Industrial Company, Ali Ajami, said there is an urgent need to speed up efforts to help salvage the situation.
“We thought it wise to share condoms and our products to the students and also educate them on the need to protect themselves as they celebrate this year’s Valentine's Day and the month of love. We all know how real and deadly this virus is, so protection is very important. As young as they are, they have their whole future ahead of them and we want to help keep it that way,” Ali Ajami said.
Twellium Industrial Company was incorporated in Ghana in September 2013, to kick start the production of 4 key franchised products.
These include Rush Energy drink, Original American Cola, Planet Range, and Bubble Up lemon-lime. While the company specializes in the production of irresistible non-alcoholic beverages, it also prides itself in its flagship product, Verna Mineral Water, which donates a percentage of its annual revenue to NGO’s that support the poor and needy in society.
