UBA Ghana has launched its Read Africa project, accompanied by an African literature book donation exercise at Kumasi Girls’ High School in the Ashanti Region.
This initiative aims to combat the decline in reading habits among African youth, particularly in secondary schools, by promoting a culture of reading through the Read Africa Project.
The UBA team was led by Belinda Tinkorang, Regional Head for Outstation, alongside Business Managers Raheemat Boakye, Kingsley Essel, and Ruth Bugyei Osei Donkoh.

During the event, Belinda Tinkorang expressed gratitude to the school authorities for their warm reception and for allowing the UBA Foundation to undertake this exercise at the school.
Henry Nii Dottey, Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications for UBA Ghana, further elaborated on UBA Foundation’s key initiatives focused on Education, Environment, and Empowerment.

He highlighted signature programs such as the Read Africa project, the National Essay Competition (NEC), and the Each-One-Teach-One initiative. Henry encouraged the students to actively participate in the upcoming NEC, offering them the chance to secure funding for their tertiary education.
Mr. Dottey also reiterated the vision of UBA Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, who champions Africapitalism—a belief in using Africa's resources to drive its development.

The Headmistress of Kumasi Girls High School, Madam Love Amankwah, praised UBA for its impactful work and invited the bank to collaborate further on student development and school projects, including helping students open bank accounts.
Visibly excited, the school's Head Girl, Nana Ataa Owusu, thanked UBA on behalf of the student body, pledging their commitment to making full use of the donated literature books.
